DeafMonitor and The Deaf Index strategic partnership announcement

Two complementary Deaf-led platforms — one built for accessibility and reach, one built for depth and interactivity — unite to keep every Deaf business and organization visible, searchable, and always up to date.

DeafMonitor, the emerging all-in-one Deaf community news and creator economy platform powered by Leeper Digital, and The Deaf Index, the intentionally lightweight and widely accessible Deaf business directory founded by Scott Madsen, today announced a landmark partnership to co-develop and continuously maintain the most comprehensive Deaf business and organizations directory ever built. The unified directory will be synchronized in real time across both platforms — meeting Deaf community members exactly where they are, regardless of device, data plan, or internet connection.

Two Platforms, One Mission — Designed for Everyone

What makes this partnership exceptional is not just the scale of the directory it will produce — it is the deliberate design philosophy each platform brings to the table. The Deaf Index was built from the ground up to be lightweight and fast-loading, prioritizing accessibility for Deaf community members on limited data plans, older devices, and low-connectivity areas. It is a platform where a Deaf elder in a rural community or a low-income Deaf entrepreneur can find and be found without barriers.

DeafMonitor, by contrast, delivers a rich, interactive experience — with category filtering, tiered membership, integrated news, video, events, jobs, and a full creator economy ecosystem. Together, the two platforms ensure that no matter who is searching or where they are searching from, the same accurate, up-to-date directory data is available to them.

“The Deaf Index was always about removing barriers. Not everyone has a fast connection or a new smartphone. Our platform is intentionally lean so that it works for everybody — including older generations and those on tight budgets. DeafMonitor handles the interactive, feature-rich experience. Together, we cover the full spectrum of the community. The directory data stays in sync between both sites so no one ever gets a stale or incomplete picture.”

— Scott Madsen, Founder of The Deaf Index

“This partnership is about meeting people where they are. Scott built something that works for the Deaf community member who can’t load a heavy web app. We built something for the community member who wants the full experience. The directory lives on both. That is what true accessibility looks like — not one solution, but the right solution for every person.”

A Living Directory — Always Current, Always in Sync

The Deaf business and organizational landscape is constantly evolving — new businesses launch, organizations grow, and contact information changes. A static directory quickly becomes a liability rather than a resource. This partnership addresses that directly: directory data will be synchronized across both DeafMonitor and The Deaf Index on an ongoing basis, ensuring that users on either platform always have access to accurate, current information.

Deaf-owned businesses and Deaf-serving organizations not yet listed in the directory are invited to submit a listing request through either platform. The submission process is free, straightforward, and designed to be completed quickly — with both platforms serving as equal entry points so that organizations can reach whichever team they are most comfortable with.

What the Partnership Delivers

  • A unified, continuously synchronized directory of Deaf-owned businesses and Deaf-serving organizations across all industries and regions
  • Dual-platform access: The Deaf Index delivering a fast, lightweight experience optimized for low-data and low-connectivity users; DeafMonitor delivering a full interactive browsing and discovery experience
  • Free listing submission available through both deafmonitor.com/directory and The Deaf Index
  • Real-time data synchronization between both platforms so listings are always accurate and up to date
  • Rich listing profiles on DeafMonitor including business descriptions, contact information, service areas, social links, and community tags
  • Category and location filtering so community members can find exactly what they are looking for
  • Future Pro-tier enhancements on DeafMonitor including featured placements, enhanced profiles, and listing analytics

How to Get Your Business or Organization Listed

Deaf-owned businesses and Deaf-serving organizations of all sizes are encouraged to submit a listing request. The process is free and open to any business or organization serving or led by members of the Deaf community. Submissions can be initiated through either platform:

Both submission paths feed the same shared directory, and listings will appear across both platforms once approved. Organizations already listed on either platform will be automatically included in the unified directory at launch.
